Verizon and SAP have announced a partnership agreement to create enterprise solutions for organisations and developers to speed up their digital transformation. These solutions will use Verizon’s network and platform capabilities integrated with SAP software and services, mainly the SAP Leonardo IoT solution, SAP Edge Services, and analytics, computing and data management capabilities.

Verizon’s technologies like 5G, software-defined networking and Intelligent Edge Network capabilities will help SAP’s customers to accelerate their digital transformation and unlock the power of Intelligent Enterprise, the companies claimed.

At the recently held Mobile World Congress Americas, the telecom giant demonstrated how the joint solution would provide companies with an ability to leverage edge computing. The solution has ability to show condition of assets within a warehouse or factory and executes critical business processes locally, while providing visibility throughout the supply chain.

Recently, SAP announced a more detailed cloud partnership with Microsoft highlighting how its Embrace project is gaining traction. The partnership aims to accelerate customer adoption of app development product SAP Cloud Platform and ERP bulwark S/4HANA on Microsoft Azure. Project Embrace on Microsoft Azure will simplify the move from SAP’s on-premise ERP to S/4HANA, creating a ‘roadmap to the cloud for customers in focused industries… with a path to streamline implementation’, providing a combined support model, alongside the reference architectures, put together with system integrator partners.

In May, Verizon announced the availability of its NB-IoT Network across the US, covering more than 92% of the country’s population. The NB-IoT Network, which is Verizon’s additional IoT connectivity option, along with the company’s ThingSpace management platform, APIs, tools and rich ecosystem of partners, aims to empower enterprise clients to develop innovative NB-IoT solutions. The network, which is especially developed for IoT applications, could benefit from access to lower cost chipsets, superior coverage, and significantly extended battery life.
