Device visibility and control provider, Forescout Technologies is aiming to simplify and operationalise enterprise-wide IoT lifecycle and security management by extending its partnership with VMware.

Damiano Bolzini, vice president of operational technology and industrial business at Forescout, said: “The rapid deployment of IoT devices across enterprise networks is resulting in high management overhead and increased risk. While Forescout discovers, profiles and segments devices in real-time, we are excited to expand our relationship with VMware to support new use cases, such as bulk software updates, configuration enforcement and usage optimisation for IoT devices at enterprise scale.”

Lakshmi Mandyam, vice president of product management, VMware, added: “VMware Pulse IoT Center extends VMware’s proven IT expertise and standards to the network edge. With the interoperability of VMware Pulse IoT Center and Forescout’s continuous device visibility, threat monitoring and control capabilities, customers increase management efficiency while simultaneously reducing their risk profile.”

VMware has had something of a hectic week, with its VMworld event in San Francisco in full swing. Alongside various cloud-based moves the company made on day one, VMware announced expansion of its telco and edge cloud portfolio to drive real-time intelligence for telecom networks, along with improved automation and security for telecommunication, edge and IoT applications.

The software provider has also announced the closure of its acquisition of Uhana, an AI-based solution for tuning radio access networks; the next release of its OpenStack solution, VMware Integrated OpenStack 6.0; and the on-premises version of Pulse IoT Center.
